BUTTERY BOKKOM BILTONG TOAST



RECIPE: BUTTERY BOKKOM BILTONG TOAST

FROM COASTAL WATERS TO THE PANTRY ... 

Bokkom Biltong lovingly crafted by women in small-scale fishing communities – 

PUNGENT, SALTY bokkomS HAVE such a Marmite effect. Folks either love them or hate them. If you are the latter, then you ought to give this recipe a whirl and let it change your mind. the salty, lemony, spicy mix of flavours are really quite addictive.

Coastal Pantry: Bokkom Biltong With A Story

Occasion:
 Easy weekday, Effortless entertaining, Shameless snacking




Ingredients

1 packet of Bokkom Biltong With A Story from the Coastal Pantry 

4 heaped tbsp of unsalted butter

6 thick slices of ciabatta

2-3 tbsp of olive oil

1 red chilli, thinly sliced

juice of half a lemon

handful of parsley, roughly chopped

salt & pepper to taste

Method

  1. Thinly slice or shred the Bokkom Biltong

  2. Rub the ciabatta sliced with olive oil on both sides.

  3. Heat a griddle pan and place slices of bread on the griddle and cook for 3-4 minutes each side until crisped and brown.

  4. Heat a frying pan and melt the butter. Add the bokkom and the chilli. Swirl around in the butter until frothy.

  5. Take the pan off the heat and squeeze juice of half the lemon over it.

  6. Add the parley, give it a stir and divide equally between the grilled ciabatta.
